Merry Christmas!

It’s our first white Christmas here with about 6 inches so far.  Have a very Merry Christmas.  I hope your day is filled with all manner of wonder. 🙂

Christmas is in full swing

Yesterday when Pip got home, it marked the beginning of 11 days together with no work and no school.  Yippee!  To celebrate we decorated Christmas cookies.  Last year I tried to get all Martha with my Christmas cookies, and was very protective with my decorations.

This year, I decided that though last years were pretty, it’s way more fun to get everyone involved and do it like this…

I do have to admit I am drawn to the perfection of these, which I was convinced I was going to make this year.  That decision was made when I was going to get my Christmas cards out before the mailing deadline.  Silly silly me.  Right now I’m thinking Christmas cards by e-mail so everyone gets a Christmas greeting and not a “back to school” greeting.

And just to let you know that even though it’s cold and there is snow on the ground, we are happy that it doesn’t like this outside our front door.  That’s our snow shovel handle sticking up, because that’s very helpful.  This picture was taken a year ago yesterday.

“Daddy, you look more like a fairy.”

Because we’ve been lacking in the “funny” around here, I thought I’d let you all know that Pip keeps everyone laughing.

It looks innocent enough no?  They were playing angels in the living room…but wait!…what’s that figure disappearing into another room?

Yes, people.  That would be Pip, dressed as an angel.  If you look closely you can see the halo in his hand that he ripped off while running into the next room when he saw the camera.  But those wings…Wow.

Later, DQ told him he looked more like a fairy.  You can’t make this stuff up.  And thanks to Pip for being both the best Dad and the best sport for not deleting the picture.

The Christmas Waltz

Frosted window panes
Candles gleaming inside
Painted candy canes on the tree
Santa’s on his way,
He’s filled his sleigh
With things, things for you and for me

It’s that time of year
When the world falls in love
Every song you hear
Seems to say
Merry Christmas
May your New Year dreams come true
And this song of mine
In three quarter time
Wishes you and yours
The same thing too

I was convinced that this song was written the same year that our house was built, but I am mistaken.  Apperently though, they were using very similar windows in 1954 that they were using in 1941 when our windows were installed.

Losing my blogging mojo

Maybe it’s that my mind is so cluttered, I don’t know.  I have lots to blog about.  I just can’t seem to muster up the energy to do it.  Pip will read this and shake his head and say, “That is not what the term “mojo” means.” and that’s fine.  I like the way it sounds.  So there.

Let me just show you what we’ve had for the past week (and for the forseeable future).

Meet Charlie and Princess.  Charlie is the grey one and Princess is the (not sure if this is what you call her) Calico.  They are pretty fun and they seem to fit us much better.  Charlie we re-named, and we were going to re-name Princess, Joy, but everyone kept calling her Princess because it fits her much better.  More stories about them later.  I’m off to make TM’s lunch and then work.
